Description
During the WWII years the multiple launch rocket system BM-13-16 “Katiusha” became the symbol of Soviet rocket artillery power. After the war, the launch system was installed on the new ZiL-157 chassis with high cross-country capabilities. The multiple launch rocket system BM-14-16 was developed at the beginning of the 1950s. The artillery part of the system was formed by 16 launch tubes with 16 turbo-rocket projectiles of M-140 type. The MLRS BM-24-12 was the most powerful rocket system in its class in the world during the mid-1950s to early 1970s period. The artillery part of the system has formed by 12 framed-cell launch guides with 12 turbo-rocket projectiles of M-24 type.
