Description
First delivered to units in July 1940, the Pak 38 5cm was a successor to the 3.7cm Pak 36. It featured design upgrades such as a muzzle brake, aluminium alloy trail legs, and a gun shield composed of two sheets of 4mm plate; using Panzergranate 39 shells it defeated 61mm of 60-degree armour from 500 meters. First deployed in the Balkan theatre in Spring 1941, the Pak 38 saw action in areas from the Eastern Front to North Africa and 9,600 of this trusty weapon were manufactured up to 1943.
