A brief history of the model:
The Douglas SBD Dauntless was the U.S. Navy’s premier dive bomber during the early years of World War II, best known for its pivotal role in the Battle of Midway, where it helped sink four Japanese carriers. Nicknamed “Slow But Deadly,” the Dauntless was admired for its ruggedness, precision dive-bombing capability, and ability to bring crews home even after sustaining heavy damage.
