DETAILS
Poly-Zap
The Specialist Adhesive for Lexan, Delrin & Engineering Plastics
Poly-Zap is a professional-grade cyanoacrylate developed specifically for the most challenging modern plastics. While standard adhesives struggle with materials like Lexan and Delrin, Poly-Zap is engineered to bite into these surfaces for a permanent bond. It is the go-to solution for polycarbonate (Lexan), ABS, styrene, nylon, and even StarBoard (HDPE marine board), as well as various films and painted surfaces.
Why Advanced Builders Choose Poly-Zap:
- Bonds “Non-Bondable” Plastics: Specifically designed for Lexan, Delrin, and HDPE where other glues fail to adhere.
- Non-Fogging Potential: When used correctly without accelerators, it allows for a cleaner finish on transparent components.
- Structural Versatility: Excellent for everything from high-impact RC car bodies to UV-resistant marine accessories.
Targeted Applications
RC Aircraft & Vehicles
Perfect for modern ARF (Almost-Ready-to-Fly) models. Use Poly-Zap for securing ABS cowls, crystal-clear canopies, and Lexan car bodies. It provides the flexibility and strength required for high-speed runs and heavy landings. It is also highly effective for fibre-glass reinforcement and repair.
Marine & Outdoor Use
Ideally suited for boat accessories and outdoor displays made from StarBoard (HDPE). This plastic is known for its resistance to UV rays and moisture, and Poly-Zap ensures your assemblies remain intact even in harsh marine environments.
Scale Modelling & Trim
Use it for intricate automotive trim, acrylic display cases, and any project involving polycarbonate or nylon components that require a high-strength, reliable join.
Pro-Tips for a Professional Bond
- Protect Your Clarity: To prevent ‘fogging’ or hazing on clear parts like canopies or windows, avoid using an accelerator. Allow Poly-Zap to cure naturally for the cleanest result.
- Application Technique: For long seams, apply small drops roughly 10mm to 15mm apart on one side only before joining. This prevents excess squeeze-out and ensures an even bond.
- Fibre-glass Repair: For structural repairs, spread Poly-Zap evenly over the affected area and allow it to cure naturally to create a tough, reinforced patch.
Note: Poly-Zap is a high-performance adhesive. Keep fingers clear of the joint during assembly, as it will bond skin to plastic instantly.
