Tamiya welcomes another F-35 Lightning II variant, F-35C in our 1/48 Aircraft Series! Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Lightning II is a 5th Generation fighter developed under the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program, successfully providing extremely low observability, network connectivity and exemplary situational awareness. Developed to take over from Navy F/A-18s, the F-35C is designed for use with CATOBAR (catapult assisted takeoff but arrested recovery) systems.
Larger wings and horizontal stabilizers than other F-35 variants help it with slower landings on carriers, while its wing tips fold ninety degrees upward to allow for more room on deck. The F-35C has a rear arresting hook which catches the arresting cables on the flight deck, slowing it and allowing a landing in the limited space. Also, the F-35C nose landing gear is connected to the catapult shuttle via its catapult hook for catapult-assisted takeoffs. Along with the F-35A and the F-35B, the F-35C will lead air arms across the world for many years to come.
About The Model
- The distinctive fuselage form of the F-35C – which has larger wings and horizontal stabilizers than other F-35 variants for slower landings – is authentically captured in style. The model is assembled parked.
- Fuselage parts are newly moulded, excluding canopy and weapons bay doors parts.
- Fine recreations of Radar Absorbent Material (RAM) are moulded into fuselage surfaces.
- Choose parts to recreate:
– Deployed or folded wing tips (Parts can be interchanged after assembly.)
– Deployed or stowed air fuel probe on the right side of nose
– Open or closed arresting hook door
– Open or closed canopy (Parts can be interchanged after assembly.)
– Open or closed weapons bay doors
– Deployed or stowed boarding ladder
- Leading-edge and trailing-edge control surfaces are depicted down. Parts to render wheel chocks are also included.
- Features realistic renderings of pylons (F-35C’s dedicated design) under wings and lower fuselage gun pod. (The gun pod is not attached if using RCS enhancers.)
- This kit also features realistic renderings of the following sections:
