Description
The BA-3 was a Soviet heavy armoured car introduced in 1933, based on the Ford-Timken 6×4 truck chassis. It mounted a 45 mm cannon in a turret derived from the early T-26 tank, giving it far greater firepower than most armoured cars of its era. The vehicle featured three axles, with the rear two being powered, and could be fitted with auxiliary tracks over the rear wheels to improve mobility on soft ground. Its armour was sufficient against small-arms fire but limited against heavier weapons. Although produced in relatively small numbers, the BA-3 marked an important step in Soviet armoured car development and remains visually distinctive.
