Description
In the beginning of the 1930s, there was a desire for a high-speed bomber that could outpace contemporary fighter planes. One plane to come to fruition from this desire was the twin-engine bomber Do 17 designed and produced by German company Dornier Flugzeugwerke. From early 1940 a series of 105 Do 215B planes were produced with liquid-cooled DB 601A engines. The Do 215B-5 night fighter modification was introduced in 1941. FuG 202 Lichtenstein radars were installed in these planes and served in the night fighter unit 11/ NJG 1 up to the beginning of 1944.
